Etne is a municipality in the county of Hordaland, Norway. Etne is located within the traditional district of Haugaland. Etne was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838. Most of Skånevik was merged with Etne on 1 January 1965.

The municipality is named after the Etnefjord. The fjord is probably named after an old river name Etna.

Etne is situated south of Bergen and borders the municipalities Kvinnherad, Odda, Sauda, Suldal and Vindafjord, the three latter in the county of Rogaland. The two largest towns respectively Etnesjøen with 988 residents and Skånevik with 589 residents.
