The Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park is located in the western part of the city named Dalanzadgad. It is the largest park of Mongolia and stretches 380 kms from east to west and 80 kms from north to south. This park is enveloped with low plains and the heights of the mountains are around 2200 to 2600 meters. The steep slopes of the mountains have deserts too. The park has a number of animals like the argali, snow leopard and Siberian Ibex which are rare and are at the point of extinction today. The name of the park Gobi Gurvan Saikhan stands for "Gobi three beauty". The west beauty, east beauty and the middle beauty are the three parts into which the mountain is divided. The rivers are usually frozen all year round as the sunlight is blocked due to the mountains.
