The Amarbayasgalant Monastery is situated at a distance of 360 kms from Ulaan Baatar. It is a famous tourist destination. This monastery was built in between 1727 and 1736. It is rated second important monastery in Mongolia. This museum is dedicated to the Mongolian Religious Bogd Gegeen. It had 27 types of small and big temples. During those days this monastery was the biggest Centre for the Buddhists. It had around 1000 lamas residing here. They used to study and chant in this monastery. Between the years 1930 and 1940, this monastery was sacked. Later in the year 1996 UNESCO nominated it as a Heritage Site. It was a period of 65 years later that monks organized the Tsam Religious dance in this monastery. Local trains, motor vehicles and jeep are available to reach this tourist spot.
