Failaka Island is the most beautiful and famous islands of Kuwait. Manifested as "Failacha" locally, it is amongst the highly visited tourist destinations of the country. This popular archeological site unites both the ancient and modern history of Kuwait. Situated in the northern part of the Persian Gulf, this island lies 20km away from the Kuwait city. The meaning of 'Failaka' in Greek is "outpost" and it was also known as 'Ikaros' by the then Greek immigrants.
Its a paradise worth visiting, but due to the Iraqi invasion and the Gulf War, a lot of areas of this island in not in a good condition. The prehistoric remnants and remains of past civilizations are prime attractions here.
