Wilson Airport is located next to Langata, South C and Kibera, approximately 3 kilometers to the south of Nairobi City, capital of the east African country of Kenya. This airport which is serving both domestic and international traffic has been in operation since 1933. Originally named as the Nairobi Aerodrome, it was decided to rename it as the Wilson Airport in 1962 after the famed pioneer of aviation in Kenya, Ms. Florence Kerr Wilson. Situated at an elevation of 5,536 feet above mean sea level, this public airport is owned and operated by the Kenya Airports Authority. Meagerly spread over a 13.3 hectare area, this facility is handling over 120,000 flight landings every year.

Wilson Airport with a couple of asphalt runways measuring 5,052 feet and 4,798 feet is conveniently ideal and mostly used by light passenger aircrafts extensively catering to the requirements of tourism, health-care and agricultural sectors. Moreover, as a result of quicker check-in times and fewer flight delays, this airport is popular and commonly used by business people to fly into domestic cities like Kisumu and Mombasa, rather than go through the cumbersome time consuming delays at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Missionary aviation operators like AMREF, MAF and AIM AIR utilize the facilities provided at this airport and use it as their African Base.  This airport is also being utilized for flight training purposes, and is the official venue of the annual Nairobi International Air-Show featuring aircraft formation flying, bombing fly-bys, helicopters and sky-diving performances. Although Nairobi Wilson Airport is not a fancy or modern facility, however, it serves as a convenient, comfortable and practical platform for your travels around these regions.
