Thol Lake or Thol Bird Sanctuary is a fresh water lake surrounded by marshes, situated 40 km north-west of Ahmedabad, in Mehsana District, Gujarat. In 1988, officially Thol Lake was renamed to Thol Bird Sanctuary. Thol name comes from the local village name Thol situated near the lake. It is home to more than 100 species of birds. Many migratory birds nest and breed in the lap of this nature.
