The surrounding Mahabaleshwar hills stand as the mighty guard to the Mahabaleshwar temple. These hills have been named after Lord Mahabali, which literally means power and strength.  Established as a renowned pilgrim centre of Mahabaleshwar, this temple comprises Lord Shiva as the prime deity.

The beautiful temple with mesmerizing idols is covered with an encircled wall raised up to 5 feet.  In the inner part of the temple lies the idol of Lord Shiva and other deities. A large central hall serves as the entrance to the chamber of worship. Pilgrims throng in great numbers to have a glance of the “Shiva Linga” established as a black stone.  This temple has been one of the famous and the most visited tourist spots of Mahabaleshwar.
