Karvetinagar was earlier ruled by the Suryavamsa Dynasty who established Narayanvanam as their capital. Providing special importance of this place due to rabbit-hunting dogs, the rulers of Surya dynasty later built their new capital at Nagaram by clearing the forest. In Tamil, Kadu means forest and vetti means clearing; hence, this place was known as Kaduvettinagaram and later as Karvetinagaram which is now the mandal headquarters in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The Venugopala Swamy Temple, Skanda Pushkarani and the old palaces are some of the other attractions worth visiting here.
