Kabini is just about 80 km from Mysore and one of the most popular wildlife destinations within Karnataka. It is easily accessible and comprises of lush green forests surrounding a huge picturesque lake. Home to large herds of elephants this forest reserve is spread over 55 acres of land containing steep valleys and large water bodies. Situated on the banks of River Kabini this reserve has the single largest congregation of Asiatic elephants crossing the 6000 mark. Langurs, chital, sambar, bison, sloth bears, python, crocodiles, tiger and leopards also dwell here along with 250 species of bird life.
