The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is a Chennai stadium and seats 40,000. It hosts football, and athletic competitions. The complex also houses a multi purpose indoor stadium with a seating capacity of 8000 which hosts volleyball, basketball, table tennis etc. The stadium is named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. The stadium hosted nine Test Matches between 1956 and 1965.

The stadium is located at Sydenhams Road, Park Town behind the Chennai Central suburban Railway station and Rippon Building.

Indoor Stadium
Next to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium,an Indoor Stadium also called as Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium is situated .The indoor stadium has a seating capacity of 8000 which hosts volleyball, basket ball, table tennis & other indoor games etc. Here large feasts of cinema, entertainment shows, TV shows (such as super singer junior 3), new cinema Audio songs release are conducted frequently.There are numerous other stadiums in India named Nehru stadium after Jawaharlal Nehru.

The highest scores were made by West Indies, scoring 539-9 and 537-9. The next highest score was made by West Indies scoring 500 all out in Test cricket. The most runs scored here was by Vijay Manjrekar ( 487 runs), followed by Chandu Borde (431 runs) and Budhi Kunderan (346 runs). The most wickets taken here was by Bapu Nadkarni (20 wickets), followed by Salim Durani(19 wickets)and Subhash Gupte (17 wickets).

Renovation
In 2012, the government announced renovation of the indoor stadium at a cost of INR 10 crore. Establishing a skating rink at a cost of INR 12 crore was also announced.
