It is an unusual cave over the Mandakini. Said to be the place where Sita bathed.Sita was the daughter of Janaka, king of Mithila. She was, therefore, also known as Janaki. This spot, on the Mandikini, was the legendary place where Sita preferred to bathe in the morning, and in privacy presumably because the more public ghats, in those days, attracted the rishis. their wives and their disciples. Here, on the banks of this rippling stream, there is a small pavilion where, often, a scholar reads the Ramayana written in Khari Boli, the local dialect rather than in Sanskrit or other literary-languages.
