Located in between Madanapalli - Rayachoti - Cuddapah Road at a distance of 29 km from Madanapalli and 12 km from Vayalpad, Gurramkonda was ruled by Lieutenants of Tippu Sultan of Mysore who built a fort on a huge hill and the Ragini Mahal which they used to climb on horses. Hence this place has come to be called as Gurramkonda, which eventually derives immense historical and archaeological importance. The Ragini Mahal and Maqbara Tomb said to belong to Tipu Sultan’s maternal uncle, along with this 500 year old steep hill fort are the tourist attractions sought by the visitors to Gurramkonda.
