It is an artificial reservoir and one of the main sources of drinking water for the city of Jamshedpur. Situated 13 kilometers to the north-east of Jamshedpur, it is nestled at the foot of the Dalma Hills. Constructed by the Tata Steel Industries, it is a vast lake surrounded by huge mountains, and a very popular weekend retreat amongst the local residents. The lake also provides boating facilities for the tourists along with other water sporting activities like jet skiing, rowing and water scooting. A simple 30 minutes drive from Jamshedpur, tourists throng this place especially during the winter months from November to February.
