Built during the early 19th century is situated 32 kms from Jammu in historic town Akhnoor, commands a towering view along the right bank of the Chenab. On its southern side is the two storied palace with its walls, facing the courtyard, decorated with arches and murals. The Fort is in fact perched upon an ancient site that dates back to the Harappan period.
