The National Museum of Iceland is a modern and progressive museum, providing a comprehensive picture of the past 1,200 years of Iceland's cultural history. The museum's permanent exhibition, Making of a Nation – Heritage and History in Iceland, is intended to provide insight into the history of the Icelandic nation from the Settlement to the present day. The museum holds up to three thousand objects, among them most of the greatest treasures of the Icelandic nation.

Opening hours:

16th September - 30th April 11am - 5pm. Closed Mondays.

1st May - 15th September. Daily 10am - 5pm.
