Description: Permanent exhibition: "Lake Balaton is fantasy and poerty, history and tradition, the collection of sweet-sorrowful fables, ancient nest for strange Hungarians, pride from the past and bright hope for the future" /Eötvös Károly 1899/ The exhibiton entitled Versatile Lake Balaton gives an insight into the formation, the natural geigraphical conditions, the typical life communities, the flora and fauna of Lake Balaton and the most important human activities carried out on and around the lake. The visitor can become acquainted with the most important pieces of equipment, elements of preparing natural scientific collections, as well as a number of outstanding people of the region's natural scientific research. Besides the dioramas showing different scenes, series of boards covering the walls give plenty of information about the life of Lake Balaton. The visitor can take a look at the lake's thousands of secrets through the variety of photos taken in different seasons of the year, the mysteriousness of the archive photographs, tha authenticity of drawings, maps of different periods and microscopic photos. Interactive multimedia equipment gives assistance to checking the success of gaining knowledge.
