Description: The ruins of Salgó Fortress are located at a 625 m high cliff above Salgóbánya, a village north of Salgótarján. The fortress is the town's only medieval monument. It was built in the 13th century by its owner from the Kacsics people. The state-owned fortress is currently managed by Treasury Property Directorate. Archaeological and restoration work in the fortress has been in process since 1998.
