Kosrae

Kosrae with its lingering historical sites, dense rainforests and World-class diving sites is one of the top tourist destinations in Micronesia. The world-renowned Lelu Ruins are considered as one of the leading wonders of the Pacific Ocean. From this very site, the entire Micronesian region was ruled in the ancient times. What remains today are huge basaltic slabs that attracts the attention of the tourists. The 13th century historical site lying in ruins features walls, tombs, channels, streets and living rooms.

Kosrae State Museum is another important attraction housing ancient artifacts and restored pictures of Kosrae that depict its rich history and culture. The Wiya Bird Cave with its numerous resident swiftlet birds is a must visit attraction. Besides this, other important tourist places of interest in Kosrae include Finkol hiking trails, Menke Ruins, Mangrove Forests and scenic waterfalls.
