Cairo International Airport

Cairo International Airport is the second busiest passenger airport of the African continent and located at a distance of 15 kilometers to the north-east of the capital city of Cairo in the North African Arab Republic of Egypt. Over 65 passenger airlines and 9 cargo freight carriers use the facilities provided by this airport, which boasts a set of three asphalt surfaced runways measuring 10,830 feet, 13,120 feet and 13,124 feet capable of receiving all varieties of aircrafts.

This public airport is owned by the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN) and operated by its subsidiary, the Cairo Airport Company. Situated at an elevation of 382 feet above mean sea level, this airport is strategically positioned in Africa, between the Middle East and European countries, beholding the potential to become an unparalleled major aviation hub of this region. As a fully modernized facility, this airport is having 3 passenger terminals serving domestic as well as international and chartered flights.

The second passenger terminal is moreover being up-graded and a new cargo terminal is also being constructed under the Cairo Cargo City (CCC) plan. This cargo facility with state-of-the-art equipment is intended to provide and support the growth in cargo traffic through this airport. A luxury hotel complex is also close to completion right across the new Terminal 3 building for the convenience of the passengers visiting Cairo. There is a multi-storey car park located near Terminal 2, and an Automated People Mover (APM), which is a main metro station located between Terminal 2 & 3 for moving visitors to and fro downtown Cairo, which are due to be inaugurated soon. A host of other multi-lateral projects are also being integrated in this scheme of transforming the facilities at this airport beyond compare, especially within this strategic location.
