Kasane Airport

Kasane Airport is a public airport near Kasane Town in the landlocked southern African country of Botswana which is well known for the variety of safari destinations it provides. Located at a distance of 7 kilometers to the south-east of the Kasane city centre, this airport is owned and operated by the Botswana Department of Civil Aviation. This aviation facility is mainly used by the tourism industry as it is the nearest airport to the famous Chobe National Park. Kasane Town is spread along the south bank of the Chobe River, close to Africa’s ‘Four Corners’ region, where the Borders of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe almost meet one another. Kasane Town is the best access point for the tourists wanting to visit the Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls and the Chobe National Park. Situated at an elevation of 3,290 feet above mean sea level, the Kasane Airport provides scheduled passenger services to Gaborone, Maun and Johannesburg, apart from providing facilities to numerous other chartered flights.

There are plans to extend the existing runway along with the apron and taxi-ways in order to accommodate larger aircrafts; however, as of now there is a 6,561 feet long asphalt/concrete runway catering to flight movements. There is a single passenger terminal at this airport with two aircraft stands, a single gate and a single check-in counter capable of handling 50 passengers every hour.  Along with the basic passenger convenience facilities at the airport, there are as many as 4 airport hotels providing comfortable access for the visiting tourists. Private taxis and car rental services are available here for passengers wanting to move downtown; moreover, most lodges in the Kasane area provide complementary shuttle services to and from the Kasane Airport for guests seeking accommodation options.
