Great South Pacific Express Itinerary
Day 1: Sydney. Private car transfer from Sydney Airport to hotel. Balance of day at leisure. Overnight: Sheraton-on-the-Park Hotel.
Day 2: Sydney. Day at leisure to explore Sydney. Board the Great South Pacific Express.
Day 3: Hunter Valley. Disembark after breakfast and visit a private Hunter Valley vineyard. Lunch is at a local restaurant, famous for its cuisine, fine wines and beautiful views. Return to the train for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Brisbane. Today breakfast and lunch are served on board as the train makes its way to Brisbane. Cross the border into Queensland. Disembark at Brisbane in the afternoon. Sheraton-on-the-Park.
Day 5: You are free to explore Brisbane on your own. See the Parliament Buildings, botanical gardens and the Treasury Building. Overnight: Sheraton-on-the-Park.
Day 6: Board the Great South Pacific Express. This morning you board the Great South Pacific Express. Settle into your compartment and enjoy the magnificent scenery. This afternoon lunch is served in the dining car. Come evening, a fabulous dinner awaits you, followed by entertainment in the Bar Car, where you meet your fellow travelers.
Day 7: Great Barrier Reef. After breakfast, depart by seaplane or helicopter to the Great Barrier Reef, one of nature’s miracles. You see and learn about this unique ecosystem from our exclusive platform moored in the sea directly above the reef itself. Snorkel through warm, transparent water between towering columns of coral, home to unbelievable shimmering sea creatures. Enjoy a buffet lunch on the reef. Return to the train for dinner and overnight. Overnight: onboard the train.
Day 8: Kuranda. Enjoy breakfast in your compartment en route to Kuranda. Alight in Kuranda for an Aboriginal cultural welcome, followed by a thrilling Skyrail cable-car ride over the Queensland tropical rainforest. Glide over the leafy canopy for a bird’s eye view of of this incredible sight. Arrive at Caravonica Lakes (skyrail base) around 1:30 p.m.
