The Schwarzenberg canal, one of central Europes most important logging canals, winds its way through the picturesque Bohemian Forest.

The logging canal was built more than 200 years ago and was used for rafting timber to Vienna. It crosses the watershed between the Danube and the Elbe rivers and required the construction of the first tunnel in central Europe.

In the St Oswald area the canal has been well preserved up to the present day and the water still thunders town the rocks with unbridled power.
