The Hochbärneck is a ridge and down a mountain pasture in the Austrian Alps. Hochbärneck is a shoulder on the southwest ridge of the 1,130 m high tower mountain. From Hochbärneckhütte (915 m) and the adjacent observation tower has an excellent view on the Ötscher and Tormäuer (nature park Ötscher Tormäuer). On the Hochbärneck there are two ski lifts and mountain bike trails.

The Hochbärneck is easily accessible from St Anton on the Jeßnitz. Since May 2004 there are a few hundred yards from the hut an Astro Station, which is operated by the Astronomy Working Group Amstetten
