The Lismore Lantern Parade is one of the most awaited events in the Rainbow Region and involves participants from across the Northern Rivers region as well the visitors who have come to Lismore and have attended workshops in lantern, mask and costume making. It also involves people who are trained in Carnival Dance and the Parade Bands.

The Lismore Lantern Parade was initiated in 1994 to bring about a communal harmony and also to celebrate the significance of the various seasons. The Parade has a grand finale which includes outdoor theatre performances with lanterns, music, pyrotechnics and also a lot of fireworks show. Lismore Lantern Parade encompasses all the various cultures and thoughts and is based on a specific theme each year. It is held in the winter season and offers an illuminated festive season.
