Byron Bay Blues & Roots Music Festival

Byron Bay Blues & Roots Music Festival is one of the highlighting features of Lismore, New South Wales. It was started in 1990 at the Arts Factory in Byron Bay as the East Coast Blues Festival. But subsequently it came to be known as Byron Bay Bluesfest and the Byron Bay Festival and at present goes by the name of Bluesfest. It was a pioneering effort in the sense that the blues music in Australia was brought on the forefront.

The festival not only features people from indigenous background but also from the non-European and also such areas where English is not regularly spoken. It has taken the shape of an international event and attracts artists from across the globe. The event is suitable for the whole family and the most significant thing is that it is attended by women in larger numbers as compared to men. It includes blues music, roots music, and hybrid of both and other musical styles too.
