Rabah Bitat International Airport

The Rabah Bitat International Airport was formerly known as the Les Salines Airport, or popularly called the El Mellah Airport is an international airport located near Annaba City in the North African nation of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Algeria. This fourth largest city of Algeria is a leading industrial centre on the northeastern corner of the country along the border with Tunisia.

Named after a popular ex-president, the Rabah Bitat International Airport is at a distance of 12 kilometers from the Annaba city centre. Situated at an elevation of 16 feet above mean sea level, this public airport is operated by EGSA Constantine, which is an airport management services establishment of the government of Algeria operating a total number of 18 airports within this country. A couple of asphalt surfaced runways measuring 9,843 feet and 7,513 feet are catering to an average total of 7,000 domestic as well international flight movements every year. There are two well equipped passenger terminals as per norms serving passengers and airlines utilizing this aviation facility.

The old terminal is currently being utilized for serving hajj flights and peak season charter flights bringing in tourists to and from many European destinations. The new modern terminal with up-to-date passenger convenience facilities is serving for all the scheduled domestic and international flights to and from this airport. There is a regular local bus service operating from this airport every 30 minutes for passengers wanting to travel downtown Annaba. Apart from this private metered taxis and some hotel shuttle services are also available for passenger transportation at the Rabah Bitat International Airport.
